Geoff Green, Stock Market Timing, Top Stock Picks, Trading StrategiesHi, my name is Geoff Green and I am the author and creator of this Stock Trading Blog, the associated web site – www.stock-trading-picks.com, and the stock-trading-forum.

You may well ask why I think there is a need for another stock market blog or web-site. Probably like you, I think there is enough information about trading stocks that it should be fairly easy to learn how to be a successful trader.

Sadly, it isn’t easy, but with the right tools and the right strategy you can learn to be a successful stock trader. And maybe my techniques can help you?

Especially in the market timing area. I am definitely not a fan of buy and hold. I hate to think about the mistakes I’ve made listening to “advisers” or “financial planners” from Merril Lynch, or Fidelity, just to name two.

If you’ve been told repeatedly that you can’t time the market then just check this market timing page out!

Think of how much better off you would be if you just didn’t buy more stock while that chart shows red???

I’ve been an active investor in the stock market back in the days when the only charting service was delivered to you on paper about 10 days after the market closed – talk about stale data!

I’m constantly amazed at the capabilities that are available to anyone interested in the stock market since the advent of the Internet. Unfortunately, the speed at which you can trade stocks nowadays can quickly create losses if you don’t have a trading strategy that works.

The strategy that I have found that works for me is to trade stocks at the right time in the market and ride a short burst of momentum until the speed of price change shows signs of slowing.

I typically hold stocks anywhere from 2 days to about 2 weeks.

It takes a stock about 2 days to demonstrate that it is a loser – and I’ll get rid of it faster than you can say sell!

A fast moving stock will run usually run out of steam before two weeks is up and I’ll sell as close to the top of that run as I can.

I always protect any position with stop orders to keep profits and minimize losses. Yes I make losing trades. Any trader that says they don’t have losing trades is less than honest. My strategy is just tuned to make more profit on the winners than I lose on the sellers. That’s why I sell the losers quickly!

I was always told that if I wanted to learn something better then teach it to other people. So I put this blog, web site, and forum together to help me understand my strategy better and hopefully learn from the interaction with readers like you.

So please leave comments or interact on the forum, I appreciate them all!

I didn’t believe that at first, but documenting my strategy has improved my trading many times over. These sites will continue to expand in the future and I’ll do my best to document everything I know and learn about trading stocks successfully.

If my efforts can help your trading in some small way then I’d love to hear about it. If you want to chat about anything you can reach me on my private email at Geoff “at” stock-trading-picks.com

Good luck in your stock trading!
